Guild
President Jane Crawford Peterson, CPM, LM and our Legislative
Chair, Katie Prown, PhD, have been working with the authors
of a bill to change newborn hearing screening requirements
to ensure that the new statutory language accommodates the
needs of out-of-hospital families and their providers. The
Guild has also played a significant role in advancing The Right
to Breastfeed Act, legislation that members have been mobilizing
grassroots support for since 2006. We are very pleased to report
that the bill has passed the State Assembly and will be voted
on the Senate floor in February. An updated action alert will
